Fabrication and Welding Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship


This Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship offers training in practical hand skills and the safe operation of hand and machine tools to  produce components from sheet metal, fabricating and welding.  Training could include producing mechanical drawings using computer aided design (CAD). You will continue to develop your skills with your employer to become a fully skilled engineer to work on your own initiative.

WHO THE QUALIFICATION IS FOR?
This qualification would be appropriate for anyone aged 16 – 24 with an interest in fabrication and welding and is seeking, or already has employment with a local employer. (Funding is also available for adults who are already in employment and working in an appropriate sector).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should preferably have GCSE’s grade A to C in Maths and English and an interest in administration. Acceptance onto the programme will be subject to successfully completing an initial assessment and interview.

EMPLOYMENT
We will help you secure a suitable position with a local employer who will support you throughout your Advanced Apprenticeship and pay you a wage. This will be negotiated with your employer at the start of your Advanced Apprenticeship

ASSESSMENT
The NVQs will be assessed through a combination of observations of your performance; evidence collected during day or block release to OTC and in the workplace and knowledge questions.

PROGRESSION
Candidates who complete this qualification can progress onto a Higher Education including Higher National Diploma, Degrees or Management qualifications
